PROJECT MANAGER IN HUMANITARIAN ACTION IN POST-CRISIS SOCIETIES

OBJECTIVES

 

The objectives of the course are three: first, to gain the essential tools to manage projects in humanitarian action; second, to understand the fundamentals of humanitarian action and to identify contextual elements of international projects in this field; and third, to prepare for practice in the field in post-crisis societies. At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

– understand relevant international issues and conduct a critical and independent thinking on humanitarian action and its problems;

– understand the historical aspects and the different actors of humanitarian action, in particular their scope of action in post-crisis societies;

– identify the geopolitical context of humanitarian action today, especially its challenges and the current priorities of humanitarian action (such as its link to development and peace-keeping);

– use the essential tools of project management in humanitarian action, namely health indicators, human resources and fundraising, and intercultural awareness.

WEEK 1 – 3 to 7 July

The tools for  management of humanitarian projects

This part deals with the methodologies, such as health basic indicators, essential legal tools, human resources and basic financial skills (fundraising), and logistics in situations of disaster or humanitarian mission.

WEEK 2 – 10 to 14 July

This part deals with the methodologies, such as health basic indicators, essential legal tools, human resources and basic financial skills (fundraising), and logistics in situations of disaster or humanitarian mission.

The international context of humanitarian action

Konowledge of the areas of intervention, to better understand the dynamics, issues and humanitarian organizations.

WEEK 4 – 24 to 28 July

The professional preparation and practice in humanitarian action

Assist. Prof. Dr. Joseph Kaminski – Islamic movements and risks for populations and professionals

Assist. Prof. Dr. Nathan Munier – Humanitarian action and cooperation in post-conflicts societies
