CIVITAS Initiative (“City-Vitality-Sustainability” or “Cleaner and Better Transport in Cities”)
The project was launched in 2002 and its main objective is to support cities to introduce ambitious transport and policies for sustainable urban mobility.
The Project CIVITAS ELAN “Mobilising citizens for vital cities” involves the cities of Ljubljana (Slovenia), Ghent (Belgium), Zagreb (Croatia), Brno (Czech Republic) and Porto (Portugal).
As part of CIVITAS EU, the project has an ELAN approach where the working motto in the five cities is “Putting the citizen first.”
ELAN has highly experienced partners, many of them were involved in the first two phases of the CIVITAS Initiative.
University Fernando Pessoa participates in the project CIVITAS ELAN since September 2008.
