Although FP-ENAS is a newly organised R&D unit, FP-ENAS team members have been involved in research activities and, therefore, the following main achievements of should be stressed:

(i) Design and implementation of PhD programmes in Earth Sciences and in Ecology and Environmental Health accredited by A3ES;

(ii) Participation in several European Advisory Councils, such as the EASAC (European Academies Science Advisory Council) for the elaboration of a synthesis report with regard to the Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Technologies in Europe released in May 2013 (Carbon Capture and Storage in Europe – EASAC policy report 20, 2013, Lemos de Sousa, M. Ed. 86 pp. EASAC), as well the thematic books “Patenting Nanomedicines: Legal Aspects, Intellectual Property and Grant Opportunities”, (Souto. E.B.
