Admission conditions for post-doctoral programs

ADMISSION CONDITIONS 2022-2023
1.Before submitting application, applicants must:
1.1. Contact the tutor/supervisor of their interest;
1.2. After the tutor/supervisor’s acceptance, applicants must submit their application as a post-doctoral student to University Fernando Pessoa’s Rector, submitting the documents indicated in 2.


2. The application must contain the following:

2.1. Copy of an EU identification document | Non-EU Citizens: student visa or residence permit issued by the Portuguese Immigration and Borders Service (SEF);
2.2. Copy of a fiscal identification document (for receipt purposes);
2.3. UFP’s application form, duly filled out (PDF);
2.4. Updated Curriculum Vitae (preferably according to Europass template – Lattes and CiênciaVitae also accepted), duly signed and dated;
2.5. Certificate or Diploma of the undergraduate or graduate degree (optional) (see items 5.2. and 5.3.)*;
2.6. Certificate or Diploma of the master degree (optional) (see items 5.2. and 5.3.)*;
2.7. Certificate or Diploma of the doctoral degree (see items 5.2. and 5.3.)*;
2.8. Research proposal;
2.9. Tutor/Supervisor’s acceptance form (PDF);
2.10. Recommendation letters (optional);
2.11. Payment of the application fee.
2.12. Applicants whose native language is not English are required to demonstrate their proficiency.
* In case of online application, the certified copy must be sent by mail to UFP’s Admissions Office, within the application deadline (check address below).


3. The registration must include:
3.1. Presentation of the original of a valid residence permit, according to the norms of the Portuguese Immigration and Borders Service (SEF) (applicable to Non-EU Citizens;
3.2. One passport size color photo (2 x 3 cm);
3.3. UFP’s registration form duly filled out (PDF);
3.4. Payment of the registration and tuition fees.


4. School fees:
Check the Post-Doctorate Tuition Fees 2022-2023.


5. Observations:
5.1. There are no refunds of payments, nor return of documents.
5.2. Declarations and transcripts issued by foreign institutions of higher education:
5.2.1. Originals or copies must be authenticated by the official education services of country in which the course was taken and recognized by the respective Portuguese diplomatic authorities or bear The Hague Convention stamp.
5.2.2. These authentications must be clearly visible in the digital versions submitted in the online applications.
5.3. Academic or professional documents must be issued in Portuguese, English, Spanish or French. If issued in another language they must be translated into Portuguese by a translator recognized by the Portuguese diplomatic authorities.
