Research lines
As a rule, research projects centered on all domains and phenomena of communication are accepted, with emphasis on:
• journalism;
• advertising;
• public relations and institutional and marketing communication (marketing communication);
• new media and mobility, web and social networks, automation of communication processes, infographics and data visualization, history of communication and media.

1^st Semester
Research methods and techniques in Communication Sciences (15 ECTS)
Option (History and evolutionary trends in journalism* or Social media, literacy and digital culture*) (10 ECTS)
Trends and problems of globalization and the information society (5 ECTS)

2^nd Semester
Argumentation, evidence and post-truth (15 ECTS)
Design of the research project, elaboration and editing of the thesis (15 ECTS)

3^rd and 4^th Semesters
Doctoral thesis (60 ECTS)

5^th and 6^th Semesters
Doctoral thesis (60 ECTS)

Scientific Yearbook
The PhD in Communication Sciences has an peer-reviewd scientific yearbook, Jornalismo e Estudos Mediáticos – Memória [Journalism and Media Studies – Memory], which collects, in the form of scientific articles, contributions from doctoral students and PhDs for the production of new communicational knowledge. Annual Scientific Event
Continuing what had been done in the field of Journalism and Media Studies of the PhD in Information Sciences, the PhD in Communication Sciences has an annual per-reviewd scientific event, aimed at providing a forum for the presentation and debate of research carried out by doctoral students and teacher of the course.
