The weather station was installed in April 2004 under the ImpactAir project (funded by Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology).
After the project completion, in 2008, the station remained in operation until today. It is a weather station which measures, at a height of 10 metres, the wind speed and direction (including standard deviation of wind direction), temperature and radiation.
It also has a GSM module that allows it, in real time, to send the data to a remote computer.
The recorded information has been used in other research projects, as well as in small internal projects with students.
